TOI-4379 b: A Jupiter-like Planet in a Distant System

TOI-4379 is a star 2100 light-years away with a mass of 1.37 solar masses and a radius of 1.98 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's corresponding values. Its temperature of 6020 K is hotter than the Sun's, and its age is 4.51 billion years. One planet orbits this host.

That planet, TOI-4379 b, is a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2024. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. TOI-4379 b has a radius of 16.7 Earth radii - larger than Earth's - and a mass of 354 Earth masses, roughly 1.11 times Jupiter's mass and larger than Earth's. Its orbital period is 3.25 days, and its mean density is 0.419 g/cm³, 0.0761 times Earth's.
