TOI-3837 b: A Jupiter-like Planet Around an Older Star

TOI-3837 is a star 1020 light-years away with one known planet. The star is 11.2 billion years old, has a mass of 0.89 solar masses, a radius of 1.2 solar radii, and a temperature of 5910 K. Its mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's, while its radius estimate is larger.

The planet, TOI-3837 b, is Jupiter-like in size classification. It was discovered in 2025 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Its radius is 10.9 Earth radii - larger than Earth's - and its mass estimate is 188 Earth masses. It completes an orbit in 11.9 days. Its mean density is 0.804 g/cm³, which is 0.146 times Earth's.
