TOI-283 and Its Super-Earth

TOI-283 is a K-type star 270 light-years away. It is 10.4 billion years old, with a mass of 0.8 solar masses and a radius of 0.85 solar radii. Its temperature is 5210 K, and its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's while its reported temperature is cooler. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, TOI-283 b, is a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2025. Its orbital period is 17.6 days, its radius is 2.34 Earth radii, and its mass is 6.54 Earth masses. Both its reported radius and mass estimates are larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 2.81 g/cm³, 0.51 times Earth's.
