TOI-2587 A b: A Jupiter-Like Planet in a Two-Star System

TOI-2587 A is a star 1220 light-years away with one known planet. The star is estimated to be 6.7 billion years old, with a mass of 1.15 solar masses and a radius of 1.73 solar radii. Its temperature is 5760 K. The star's reported mass and radius estimates are both larger than the Sun's.

The planet, TOI-2587 A b, was discovered by transit in 2023. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. TOI-2587 A b has an orbital period of 5.46 days, a mass of 69.3 Earth masses, and a radius of 12.1 Earth radii. Its reported mass and radius estimates are both larger than Earth's. With a radius exceeding four times Earth's, it is classified as Jupiter-like. Its mean density is 0.217 g/cm³, 0.0394 times Earth's.
