TOI-2537: A Cool, Old Star with Two Massive Worlds

TOI-2537 is a single star located 603 light-years away. Its measured mass is 0.771 solar masses, its radius is 0.771 solar radii, and its surface temperature is 4870 K, all smaller or cooler than the Sun's corresponding values. The star is 1.1 billion years old. Two planets are known to orbit it.

TOI-2537 b was discovered by the transit method in 2024. It is classified as Jupiter-like, meaning its radius exceeds four times Earth's, and its measured radius is 11.3 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its mass is 415 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's, and roughly 1.31 times Jupiter's mass. This planet completes an orbit in 94.1 days, the shortest reported year among the listed planets. Its mean density is 1.61 grams per cubic centimeter, which is 0.291 times Earth's.

TOI-2537 c was discovered in 2024 using the radial velocity method, which detects the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star. Its minimum mass is 2300 Earth masses, a lower bound that exceeds Earth's and is roughly 7.23 times Jupiter's mass. The planet's orbital period is 1920 days, the longest reported year among the listed planets.
