TOI-2498 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-2498 is a star 898 light-years from Earth with an age of 3.6 billion years. Its mass is 1.12 solar masses and its radius is 1.26 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's. The star's temperature is 5910 K, hotter than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this star.

TOI-2498 b was discovered in 2023 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. The planet is Jupiter-like, meaning its radius exceeds 4 times Earth's. Its radius is 6.06 Earth radii, larger than Earth's radius, and its mass is 34.6 Earth masses, larger than Earth's mass. Its mean density is 0.857 g/cm³, 0.156 times Earth's. TOI-2498 b completes an orbit every 3.74 days.
