TOI-2497 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-2497 is a star 930 light-years away with one known planet. The star is 1 billion years old, has a mass of 1.86 solar masses and a radius of 2.36 solar radii, and its temperature is 7360 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's.

The planet TOI-2497 b was discovered in 2023 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. It has a mass of 1530 Earth masses, a radius of 11.1 Earth radii, and an orbital period of 10.7 days. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's, and its reported mass estimate is larger than Earth's and roughly 4.82 times Jupiter's mass. Its mean density is 6.1 g/cm³, 1.11 times Earth's.

TOI-2497 b is Jupiter-like, a size class for planets exceeding 4 times Earth's radius.
