TOI-2384 b: A Jupiter-Like World Around a Cool Dwarf Star

TOI-2384 is a star located 625 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is estimated to be 9.4 billion years old, with a mass of 0.635 solar masses and a radius of 0.611 solar radii. Its temperature is 3940 K, making it cooler than the Sun. Its reported mass and radius estimates are both smaller than the Sun's.

The planet, TOI-2384 b, was discovered in 2024 by the transit method. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. TOI-2384 b completes an orbit every 2.14 days.

TOI-2384 b is classified as Jupiter-like, a size class for planets exceeding 4 times Earth's radius. Its radius is 11.5 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its mass is 625 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's. That mass is roughly 1.97 times Jupiter's mass. Its mean density is 2.27 g/cm³, 0.412 times Earth's.
