TOI-2382: A Distant Star and Its Jupiter-Like Companion

TOI-2382 is a star located 1420 light-years from Earth, and it hosts exactly one known planet. The star is 3.1 billion years old and has a mass of 1.26 solar masses, a radius of 1.42 solar radii, and a temperature of 6030 K. Its mass, radius, and temperature are all larger or hotter than the Sun's.

The single planet in this system is TOI-2382 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered by the transit method in 2025. It orbits its star every 4.66 days, placing it in a close, fast circuit. With a radius of 12.3 Earth radii, it is far larger than Earth and comfortably exceeds the radius threshold that defines Jupiter-like planets. Its mass is 235 Earth masses, also far greater than Earth's.

TOI-2382 b's mean density is 0.705 g/cm³, which is 0.128 times Earth's. This low density suggests a large, relatively lightweight world for its size, though its composition remains a matter of the measured values alone.
