TOI-2338 b: A Giant World Around a Star

TOI-2338 is a star 1020 light-years away with one known planet, TOI-2338 b. The star is 7 billion years old and has a mass of 0.99 solar masses, a radius of 1.05 solar radii, and a temperature of 5580 K. Its reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

TOI-2338 b is a Jupiter-like planet discovered in 2023 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It orbits every 22.7 days. Its radius is 11.2 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its mass is 1900 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's and roughly 5.98 times Jupiter's mass. The planet's mean density is 7.44 g/cm³, 1.35 times Earth's.
