TOI-2184 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-2184 is a star 2570 light-years away with an age of 2.3 billion years, a mass of 1.53 solar masses, a radius of 2.9 solar radii, and a temperature of 5970 K. Its reported mass, radius, and temperature estimates are each larger or hotter than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

That planet, TOI-2184 b, is a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2022. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. The planet completes an orbit every 6.91 days and has a radius of 11.4 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its mass of 207 Earth masses is also larger than Earth's, and its mean density is 0.768 g/cm³, 0.139 times Earth's.
