TOI-2147 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-2147 is a star 920 light-years away with an age of 8 billion years, a mass of 0.99 solar masses, a radius of 1.39 solar radii, and a temperature of 5980 K. Its reported radius is larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is TOI-2147 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2026. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. The planet's radius of 10.5 Earth radii exceeds Earth's, and its mass of 116 Earth masses is likewise larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit every 26.2 days. Its mean density is 0.552 g/cm³, 0.1 times Earth's.
