TOI-2046 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-2046 is a star 945 light-years from Earth with a spectral type of F8 V, an F-type main-sequence dwarf. Its measurements include an age of 0.45 billion years, a mass of 1.13 solar masses, a radius of 1.21 solar radii, and a temperature of 6250 K. The reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's, and the reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, TOI-2046 b, is classified as Jupiter-like and was discovered in 2022 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It has a mass of 731 Earth masses and a radius of 16.1 Earth radii, both larger than Earth's. Its mass is roughly 2.3 times Jupiter's mass. The planet completes an orbit in 1.5 days, and its mean density is 0.958 g/cm³, 0.174 times Earth's.
