TOI-1842 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-1842 is a star 729 light-years away with one known planet. The star is estimated to be 2.5 billion years old, with a mass of 1.46 solar masses and a radius of 2.03 solar radii, making it larger and more massive than the Sun. Its temperature is 6040 K, hotter than the Sun.

The planet, TOI-1842 b, was discovered by transit in 2021, when it passed in front of its star and caused a small dip in observed brightness. It is Jupiter-like, with a radius of 12.3 Earth radii, which exceeds four times Earth's radius. Its mass estimate is 89.4 Earth masses, larger than Earth's, and its orbital period is 9.57 days. Its mean density is 0.262 g/cm³, 0.0475 times Earth's.
