TOI-1794 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

TOI-1794 is a star 508 light-years away with one known planet. The host star is 10.8 billion years old and has 0.97 solar masses, 1.32 solar radii, and a temperature of 5630 K. Its radius is larger than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet TOI-1794 b is Neptune-like, discovered by transit in 2024. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. TOI-1794 b has a mass of 8.7 Earth masses and a radius of 3.3 Earth radii. Its radius is larger than Earth's, as is its mass. Its mean density is 1.34 g/cm³, 0.243 times Earth's. The planet completes an orbit every 8.77 days.
