TOI-1696 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

TOI-1696 is an M-type dwarf, a small, cool red dwarf, located 212 light-years away. Its spectral type is M5V. The star has an age of 7.1 billion years, a mass of 0.27 solar masses, a radius of 0.287 solar radii, and a temperature of 3170 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is TOI-1696 b, a Neptune-like world discovered by transit in 2022. It has a reported upper limit of 48.8 Earth masses, and its reported radius estimate of 3.09 Earth radii is larger than Earth's. This radius places it within the Neptune-like size class. TOI-1696 b completes an orbit in 2.5 days.
