TOI-1659 and Its Super-Earth

TOI-1659 is a star 400 light-years away with a mass of 1.1 solar masses, a radius of 1.01 solar radii, and a temperature of 5980 K. Its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

That planet, TOI-1659.01, is a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2024. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. TOI-1659.01 has an orbital period of 5.88 days and a radius of 2.26 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's.
