TOI-1422 and Its Two Neptune-Like Planets

TOI-1422 is a Sun-like, G2 V star located 506 light-years away. The star is 5.1 billion years old and has a mass of 0.981 solar masses, a radius of 1.02 solar radii, and a temperature of 5840 K. Its reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's. Two planets are known to orbit this star.

TOI-1422 b is a Neptune-like planet discovered by the transit method in 2022. It has a mass of 9.5 Earth masses, a radius of 3.83 Earth radii, and an orbital period of 13 days. Its radius and mass estimates are larger than Earth's, and its mean density is 0.932 g/cm³, 0.169 times Earth's.

TOI-1422 c is a Neptune-like planet discovered by the radial velocity method in 2025. It has a mass of 14 Earth masses, a radius of 2.61 Earth radii, and an orbital period of 34.6 days. Its radius and mass estimates are larger than Earth's, and its mean density is 4.34 g/cm³, 0.787 times Earth's.

Among the listed planets, TOI-1422 b has the shortest year, at 13 days, and the largest radius, at 3.83 Earth radii. TOI-1422 c has the longest year, at 34.6 days, the smallest radius, at 2.61 Earth radii, and the largest reported mass, at 14 Earth masses. TOI-1422 b has the smallest reported mass, at 9.5 Earth masses.
