TOI-1411: A Cool, Older Star with One Known Planet

TOI-1411 is a star located 106 light-years away. It has 0.605 solar masses and 0.614 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's corresponding values, and its temperature of 4120 K is cooler than the Sun's. Its age is 9.6 billion years. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, TOI-1411 b, was discovered by the transit method in 2022. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. TOI-1411 b completes an orbit every 1.45 days. It has 2 Earth masses and 1.2 Earth radii, a radius larger than Earth's. Its classification is Earth-like, a size class that stays within 1.5 times Earth's radius. Its mean density is 6.4 g/cm³, 1.16 times Earth's.
