TOI-1296 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-1296 is a star 1050 light-years away with an age of 7.1 billion years. Its mass is 1.16 solar masses, its radius is 1.7 solar radii, and its temperature is 5570 K. The star's reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, while its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's. One planet orbits this star.

The planet is TOI-1296 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2021. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. TOI-1296 b has an orbital period of 3.94 days, a radius of 14.1 Earth radii, and a mass of 95.3 Earth masses. Its radius and mass estimates are larger than Earth's, and its mean density is 0.187 g/cm³, 0.0339 times Earth's.
