TOI-1288 and Its Two Planets

TOI-1288 is a G V star 375 light-years away, with an age of 12.1 billion years, a mass of 0.89 solar masses, a radius of 1.01 solar radii, and a temperature of 5230 K. Its reported mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's. Two planets are known to orbit this host.

TOI-1288 b was discovered by transit in 2022. It is a Jupiter-like planet with a mass of 44.1 Earth masses, a radius of 4.97 Earth radii, and an orbital period of 2.7 days. Both its reported radius and mass estimates are larger than Earth's, and its mean density is 1.98 g/cm³, 0.36 times Earth's. Among the listed planets, TOI-1288 b has the shortest year by reported estimates.

TOI-1288 c was discovered by radial velocity in 2022, a method that measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. Its minimum mass, a lower bound on its true mass, is 85.7 Earth masses, larger than Earth's, and its orbital period is 416 days. Among the listed planets, TOI-1288 c has the longest year by reported estimates.
