TOI-1199 and Its Giant Planet

TOI-1199 is a star 810 light-years from Earth with one known planet orbiting it. The star's reported mass estimate is 1.23 solar masses and its radius is 1.45 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's. Its age is 4.2 billion years, and its reported temperature of 5710 K is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet, TOI-1199 b, was discovered in 2024 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It is a Jupiter-like planet, a size class for objects whose radius exceeds 4 times Earth's. Its radius is 10.5 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its mass is 76 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit in 3.67 days. Its mean density is 0.36 g/cm³, 0.0654 times Earth's.
