TOI-1180 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

TOI-1180 is a star 235 light-years from us. Its age is 5 billion years, its mass is 0.78 solar masses, its radius is 0.743 solar radii, and its temperature is 4800 K. The star's reported mass and radius estimates are both smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is TOI-1180 b, a Neptune-like world discovered by transit in 2024. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness, and repeated dips help establish orbital periods. TOI-1180 b completes an orbit every 9.69 days, so that is its orbital period. Its radius is 3.07 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's.
