TIC 4672985 b: A Giant Planet Around a Star

TIC 4672985 is a star 826 light-years away. It is 7.71 billion years old, has 1.01 solar masses, and a radius of 1.15 solar radii, larger than the Sun's. Its temperature is 5760 K. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is TIC 4672985 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered in 2024 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It completes an orbit every 69 days. Its radius is 11.5 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its mass is 4050 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's and roughly 12.7 times Jupiter's mass. Its mean density is 14.7 g/cm³, 2.66 times Earth's.
