Ross 458 is a binary star system 37.5 light-years away, and its listed planets number one. The host star is an M0.5 dwarf, a small, cool red dwarf with a reported mass of 0.556 solar masses and a radius of 0.563 solar radii. Its temperature is 3650 K. This star's mass and radius are both smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler.
The sole planet orbiting this host is Ross 458 c, a Jupiter-like planet discovered by imaging in 2010. It is circumbinary, meaning it orbits both stars of the binary system rather than one star alone. Ross 458 c has a reported mass of 1910 Earth masses and a radius of 14 Earth radii. Both its mass and radius are larger than Earth's, and its mass is roughly 6 times Jupiter's. Its mean density is 3.82 g/cmยณ, 0.693 times Earth's. No orbital period is reported for Ross 458 c.
