OGLE-TR-211 b: A Giant Planet in a Close Orbit

OGLE-TR-211 is a star 4940 light-years away with one known planet. The host star is 2.6 billion years old, holds 1.31 solar masses, spans 1.56 solar radii, and has a temperature of 6330 K. Its reported mass, radius, and temperature are all larger or hotter than the Sun's corresponding values.

The single planet, OGLE-TR-211 b, is a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2007. It completes an orbit every 3.68 days. Its radius is 15.2 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its mass is 327 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.509 g/cm³, 0.0924 times Earth's. A transit occurs when a planet crosses in front of its star from our viewpoint, dimming the observed brightness slightly.
