OGLE-TR-182 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

OGLE-TR-182 is a star 8160 light-years away with one known planet. The star is 4.3 billion years old and has a mass of 1.19 solar masses, a radius of 1.53 solar radii, and a temperature of 5920 K, making it more massive, larger, and hotter than the Sun.

Its planet, OGLE-TR-182 b, was discovered by transit in 2007. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. The planet is Jupiter-like, a size class for planets exceeding 4 times Earth's radius. Its radius is 12.7 Earth radii, and its mass is 321 Earth masses; both values are larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit every 3.98 days. Its mean density is 0.87 g/cm³, 0.158 times Earth's.
