Kepler-983 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-983 is a star 2330 light-years away with one known planet in orbit. The host star is 1.41 billion years old, has a mass of 1.13 solar masses, a radius of 1.08 solar radii, and a temperature of 6050 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-983 b is classified as a Super-Earth. It was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-983 b orbits once every 60.1 days and has a radius of 2.36 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
