Kepler-956 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-956 is a single-star system 1780 light-years away, and its only known planet is Kepler-956 b. The host star is 3.47 billion years old, with a mass of 1.1 solar masses, a radius of 1.15 solar radii, and a temperature of 6040 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's.

Kepler-956 b was discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. The planet is Neptune-like, a size class that reaches 4 times Earth's radius, and its radius of 3 Earth radii is larger than Earth's. It orbits every 5.25 days.
