Kepler-954 b: A Super-Earth in a Close Orbit

Kepler-954 is a star located 704 light-years away. It has one planet. The star is 3.39 billion years old and has a mass of 0.82 solar masses and a radius of 0.76 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's. Its temperature of 4990 K is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-954 b was found by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Its orbital period is 16.8 days. With a radius of 2.32 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, Kepler-954 b is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius. It has no reported mass or minimum mass.
