Kepler-948 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-948 is a star located 2830 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is estimated to be 4.17 billion years old, with a mass of 0.96 solar masses, a radius of 0.94 solar radii, and a temperature of 5680 K.

The planet, Kepler-948 b, was discovered by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-948 b has an orbital period of 7.77 days, so it completes one orbit in that many days. It is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius, and its radius is 1.85 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's.
