Kepler-908 b: A Close-In Earth-Sized World

Kepler-908 is a star located 949 light-years from Earth, and one planet has been identified in orbit around it. The host star is estimated to be 3.02 billion years old, with a mass of 1.11 solar masses and a radius of 1.12 solar radii. Its temperature is 5970 K. The star's reported mass estimate is larger than the Sun's, its reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-908 b is an Earth-like world discovered by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-908 b completes one orbit in 1.34 days, and its radius is 1.22 Earth radii, making it larger than Earth.
