Kepler-899: A Distant Star With a Single Known Planet

Kepler-899 is a star located 4070 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star itself is 4.07 billion years old, with a mass of 0.93 solar masses and a radius of 0.91 solar radii. Its temperature is 5600 K.

The planet, Kepler-899 b, was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, which detects the small dip in a star's brightness when a planet passes in front of it. Kepler-899 b is classified as Neptune-like, a size class that reaches up to four times Earth's radius. Its radius is 2.68 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's. The planet completes one orbit every 19.2 days.
