Kepler-857 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

Kepler-857 is a single-star system 3210 light-years away. Its host star has a mass of 0.99 solar masses, a radius of 0.99 solar radii, a temperature of 5770 K, and an age of 4.27 billion years. One planet orbits this star.

That planet is Kepler-857 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered in 2016 by the transit method, which detects the small dip in a star's brightness when a planet crosses in front of it from our viewpoint. Kepler-857 b completes an orbit every 85.4 days and has a radius of 6.8 Earth radii. That radius estimate is larger than Earth's.
