Kepler-832 b: A Super-Earth in a Distant System

Kepler-832 is a star located 5510 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is 4.37 billion years old and has a mass of 0.92 solar masses, a radius of 0.9 solar radii, and a temperature of 5600 K. Its reported mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's.

The system's only listed planet is Kepler-832 b, a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-832 b completes an orbit every 7.14 days and has a radius of 2.06 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's. In size classification, a Super-Earth reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius.
