Kepler-818 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

Kepler-818 is a star located 3020 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star has a mass of 0.94 solar masses, a radius of 0.92 solar radii, and a temperature of 5640 K. Its age is 3.98 billion years.

The planet is Kepler-818 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered in 2016 by the transit method. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-818 b completes an orbit in 10 days and has a radius of 5.11 Earth radii. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's.
