Kepler-777 b: An Earth-Like World in a Distant System

Kepler-777 is a star located 1450 light-years away. It is a single-star system orbited by one known planet. The host star is estimated to be 3.16 billion years old, with a mass of 0.58 solar masses and a radius of 0.56 solar radii. Its reported temperature is 4040 K. The star's mass and radius estimates are both smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The sole known planet, Kepler-777 b, was discovered in 2016 using the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-777 b is classified as Earth-like, a size class that stays within 1.5 times Earth's radius. It has an orbital period of 5.73 days and a radius of 1.47 Earth radii, making it larger than Earth.
