Kepler-76: A Distant Star with a Single Close-Orbiting Planet

Kepler-76 is a spectral type F star located 2680 light-years away. Its measured mass is 1.2 solar masses, its radius is 1.32 solar radii, and its temperature is 6410 K. The star's reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet is Kepler-76 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered in 2013 by orbital brightness modulation. It has a mass of 639 Earth masses and a radius of 15.2 Earth radii, completing an orbit in 1.54 days. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's, and its reported mass estimate is larger than Earth's, at roughly 2.01 times Jupiter's mass. Its mean density is 0.994 g/cm³, 0.18 times Earth's.
