Kepler-757 b: A Close-Orbiting Earth-Like World

Kepler-757 is a star located 3490 light-years away, with an age of 3.31 billion years. Its mass is 1.08 solar masses, its radius is 1.13 solar radii, and its temperature is 6010 K. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is Kepler-757 b, an Earth-like world detected by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-757 b completes an orbit in 1.02 days, and its radius is 1.36 Earth radii. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's.

The star's properties describe it specifically: at 6010 K it is hotter than the Sun, and at 1.08 solar masses it is slightly more massive, with a radius of 1.13 solar radii.
