Kepler-729 and Its Solitary Planet

Kepler-729 is a star located 6270 light-years away. It has one known planet. The star is 4.27 billion years old and contains 0.94 solar masses, a mass estimate smaller than the Sun's. Its radius is 0.91 solar radii, and its temperature of 5630 K is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-729 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-729 b completes an orbit every 3.17 days. Its radius is 3.58 Earth radii, an estimate larger than Earth's. As a Neptune-like planet, it falls within the size class reaching four times Earth's radius.
