Kepler-714 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

Kepler-714 is a star located 6800 light-years away. It has one known planet. The star's reported mass estimate is larger than the Sun's, at 1.09 solar masses, and its reported radius estimate is also larger than the Sun's, at 1.12 solar radii. Its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's, at 6000 K, and it is 3.55 billion years old.

The planet Kepler-714 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-714 b has an orbital period of 8.1 days and a radius of 9.67 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's. With a radius exceeding 4 times Earth's radius, it is classified as Jupiter-like.
