Kepler-679 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-679 is a star located 3010 light-years away. It has one known planet. The host star is 4.47 billion years old, with a mass of 0.87 solar masses and a radius of 0.84 solar radii. Its temperature is 5400 K. The star's reported mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's, its reported radius estimate is smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-679 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It is a Neptune-like planet, a size class that reaches 4 times Earth's radius. Kepler-679 b has a radius of 3.01 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and an orbital period of 12.4 days.
