Kepler-676 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-676 is a star 963 light-years away with one known planet in orbit. The host star is 4.27 billion years old and has a mass of 0.51 solar masses, a radius of 0.49 solar radii, and a temperature of 3700 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are both smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler.

The planet Kepler-676 b is Neptune-like. It was found in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. The planet's orbital period is 11.6 days. Its radius is 3.04 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Planet size classes compare radius with Earth's: a Neptune-like planet reaches 4 times Earth's radius.
