Kepler-659 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-659 is a star 2360 light-years away with a single known planet, Kepler-659 b. The host star is 3.24 billion years old and has a mass of 0.79 solar masses and a radius of 0.74 solar radii. Its reported temperature is 4870 K, cooler than the Sun's, while its mass and radius are also smaller than the Sun's.

Kepler-659 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, which detects the small dip in a star's brightness when a planet passes in front of it. The planet is classified as Neptune-like, with a radius of 2.5 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit in 17.7 days.
