Kepler-646 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-646 is a star 1470 light-years away with one known planet. The star is estimated to be 4.57 billion years old, with a mass of 0.93 solar masses and a radius of 0.91 solar radii. Its reported temperature is 5630 K, cooler than the Sun's, and its reported mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-646 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish the planet's orbital period, the time it takes to complete one orbit.

Kepler-646 b is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius. Its radius is 1.99 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and it orbits once every 15.9 days.
