Kepler-601 b: A Super-Earth in a Close Orbit

Kepler-601 is a star located 1350 light-years away. It has a mass of 0.85 solar masses, a radius of 0.79 solar radii, and a temperature of 5160 K. Its reported mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's, its reported radius estimate is smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's. The star is 4.07 billion years old. One planet is known to orbit it.

Kepler-601 b is a Super-Earth discovered by the transit method in 2016. Its reported radius estimate is 1.9 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's. It completes one orbit every 5.38 days. The transit method detects a planet as it passes in front of its star, producing a small dip in the star's observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods.
