Kepler-599 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-599 is a star located 1820 light-years away. It has one planet. The host star is 5.01 billion years old and has a mass of 0.83 solar masses and a radius of 0.79 solar radii, making its reported mass and radius estimates smaller than the Sun's. Its temperature is 5130 K, cooler than the Sun's.

The system's only known planet is Kepler-599 b, a Neptune-like world discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-599 b orbits every 15.7 days and has a radius of 2.84 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
