Kepler-552 b: A Neptune-like World in a Distant System

Kepler-552 is a star located 2750 light-years away. It has 1.03 solar masses, 1.04 solar radii, a temperature of 5860 K, and an age of 3.89 billion years. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is Kepler-552 b, a Neptune-like world discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-552 b completes an orbit every 5.26 days. Its radius is 3.95 Earth radii, a size that places it within the Neptune-like class, which extends to 4 times Earth's radius. This reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's.
