Kepler-534: A Distant Star With Two Small Worlds

Kepler-534 is a star 1860 light-years away with two known planets. The host star is 1.58 billion years old, has a mass of 1.05 solar masses, a radius of 0.98 solar radii, and a temperature of 5880 K. Its reported mass estimate is larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's. Both planets were found by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods.

Kepler-534 b is a Super-Earth discovered in 2016. It completes an orbit in 16 days and has a radius of 2.24 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's. Among the listed planets, it has the longest year and the largest radius by reported estimates.

Kepler-534 c is an Earth-like planet discovered in 2021. Its orbital period is 7.38 days, and its radius is 1.23 Earth radii, also larger than Earth's. Among the listed planets, it has the shortest year and the smallest radius by reported estimates.
