Kepler-519 b: A Super-Earth in a Two-Star System

Kepler-519 is a star 804 light-years away with one known planet, Kepler-519 b. The host star is estimated to be 1.91 billion years old, with a mass of 0.89 solar masses and a radius of 0.8 solar radii. Its temperature is 5260 K. All of these stellar measurements describe the host star alone, not the system's companion star.

Kepler-519 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, which detects the small dip in a star's brightness when a planet passes in front of it. The planet is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius. Its radius is 2.1 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and it orbits the star every 24.3 days.

The host star's mass and radius are both smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler than the Sun's.
